Net-Zero Energy Warehouse Initiative

One of the sustainability programs that we are most proud of at Pets + People is our Net-Zero Energy Warehouse Initiative.  Our New Jersey warehouse is equipped with solar arrays that churn out over half a megawatt of electricity a year—enough to cover all our warehouse's energy needs. Plus, by regularly upgrading our lighting and HVAC systems, we’ve managed to cut our total energy use in half over the past two years. It’s a big step toward a brighter, greener future!

Our energy-saving initiatives have already prevented millions of pounds of CO₂ emissions, an environmental benefit equivalent to planting tens of thousands of trees. Our mission is to produce enough clean energy to offset the electricity consumption of our global operations, including product production, offices, and distribution.

But that's not enough! Our next steps will take our goal beyond our own company. We are in development stages to join a New Jersey community solar project that will expand our output to another megawatt—enough to provide solar energy for over 2,000 homes in the area! This initiative will supply clean energy to community buildings and homeowners, with a focus on supporting low-income families.
